Speaker’s Bio: Hector Jirau

Héctor J. Jirau-Colón (Hector Jirau in short) is a Puerto Rican investor, operator and scientist specialized in Cross-Border early-stage investing, with a base in Puerto Rico. He serves as the Executive Director of Parallel18, an international startup accelerator, where he leads investments across early- and late-stage ventures. Prior to this, he served as an associate at Unity Growth, a private equity firm focused on secondaries, with investments in companies such as Stripe, Anthropic, Klarna, Space X, among others. Dr. Jirau has impacted over 300 companies, overseen more than $40M in early & late-stage investments. His work and commentary have appeared in outlets including Bloomberg, Entrepreneur Magazine, Crunchbase News and The Fintech Times. Prior roles include operations and investment leadership at the Puerto Rico Science Trust. He holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and an M.S. in Financial Engineering.
